Is your store responsive, or does it have a mobile-friendly version? If not, from April 21 2015, you may find it harder to rank in Google’s mobile search results.

To quote Google exactly…

Starting April 21, we will be expanding our use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results. Consequently, users will find it easier to get relevant, high quality search results that are optimized for their devices.

The mobile-friendly update only affects mobile search results – i.e., searches from smartphones and tablets – not searches conducted on a desktop or laptop computer; but with mobile commerce becoming increasing popular and increasingly profitable, it’s in your interests to make sure you rank as highly as possible in the search results.

Will my site be listed if my store is not mobile-friendly?

Yes, your store will still be listed, but it will be below any (and likely all) stores/sites that ARE mobile-friendly. So while you could adopt the opinion of “I’ll still be listed,” the fact is, if you’re not mobile-friendly you’ll be listed so far down the results that you likely won’t even be seen.
